You may have seen the Seiko ref. It was featured prominently on the wrist of Martin Sheen's character, Captain Willard, in the seminal 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film. The inclusion of the watch was no mistake the Seiko 6105 dive watch was popular among U. Servicemen during the Vietnam War in the early 1970s. It was favored for its rugged nature and resistance to the harsh jungle environment.
As a testament to that, many examples, including this one, are still running strong today. The 6105 has always had a strong cult following, but its only in recent years that the wider collecting world has discovered its quirky charm. From a design standpoint, its easy to appreciate the asymmetrical case. Additionally, the 6105 features an interesting crown construction that locks the push-pull crown in by using a small post and grooves. On many examples this mechanism can be worn down, but it functions flawlessly.
The 6105 is one of the most celebrated vintage tool watches out there today, not only because it played a role in the Vietnam War, but it was also popular with divers of the time. One noteworthy example even went to space on the wrist.
Stainless steel in good condition. The watch is pre-owned in good working condition.
