This striking highly unique slate mantel is the perfect piece to bring a quaint, cozy, atmosphere to any space in your home! A beautiful marbleized finish graces the exposed surfaces with "veins" of red, yellow, and white against a black background. Square tile rosettes manufactured by the short-lived Kensington Art Tile Co. Of Newport, Kentucky, in operation from 1885 to 1895, are embedded in the legs and header of the mantel adding an eye-catching touch to this already well ornamented mantel.

Between the tiles, incised Eastlake style carvings decorate the empty spaces. The top shelf is 12 deep with a beveled edge. This mantel is in good condition for its age. Minor chips are present along the edges and corners of some components. The finish is beginning to wear from the trim surrounding the firebox.

Salvaged from a circa 1885 Italianate style house in Barnesville, Ohio, this mantel, along with other items from the house, are featured on Season 10, Episode 5, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs". Item Measurements: 58.25(L) x 12.25(W) x 45.5(H) Firebox: 5"(D) x 26 1/2"(W) x 32(H) Weight: 325 lbs.
